April is a festive month in Thailand because Thai New Year falls onto April 13th. Water festival, "Songkran" is celebrated. Water symbolizes purity and washes away bad luck. It is a holiday where locals make merits in the morning and spend time with their family in the afternoon. April is also the hottest month in Thailand. When I was living in Thailand, my father would seal the back of his pick-up truck with clay so we could fill it up with water and drive into the city to join the celebration. Literally everyone just throws water at each other. It was fun for me as a kid. Fortunately April 13th falls onto our monthly pop-up at Santa Cruz Food Lounge Night Market. We hope to celebrate Songkran with you in our own way! Every second Friday of each month is also Night Market at Santa Cruz Food Lounge. Many other vendors will on site to serve delicious meal! Happy hour is 4-6pm!
